AZLegislation.com was at the Phoenix City Hall for Shakira's news conference opposing the Arizona Immigration Law.
The Grammy award winning singer told a group of reporters that she wants to raise awareness about the dangerous consequences the new law may create. "I came here to offer support and defend human rights," said Shakira. I'm in opposition to this law because it is a violation of human and civil rights and goes against human dignity."
At the same time Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was holding his own press conference announcing another illegal immigrant round up where 89 people were arrested in the sweep.

Tell Shakira to go back to Mexico or wherever she is from and SIT ON HER GRAMMY. Send them all back w/ her & see how many cd's she sells. All of these people who have a gripe about immigration will lose financially, politically or relationships. I don't care , I'm tired of the crime, violence, lost jobs/ We lost many co's to overseas for the almighty dollar & now everyone is getting screwed because of the job losses. If the illegals were gone it would open up the market somewhat, crime would be down, slum areas would disappear, our losses from free health care, the schools over crowding, the gangs deported. Hey, if you are legal I will stand shoulder to shoulder w/ you but if your not I will be the 1st to send your sweet ass back home. Another thing that I found out when I lived in Sacramento,Ca for 17 years, there is a ton of illegal asians in this area alone who fllew from their homes to Sweden / Switzerland then to Canada & simply walked across the border. Yjere was approx 25K in Sac,ca alone. I talked to many of them. They work like slave labor for asian restaurants & small businesses, 7 days a week, 10-12 hour days and split their tips w/ the owners & work for minimum wages. Their ownly hope is to meet a customer w/ hopes for marriage.
I agree the celebs talk a good game but I dont see any money coming our way to help us, I believe that the way things are going we will be a 3rd world country and Obomer is working hard to make that happen
My parents came here thru ELLIS ISLAND from Czechoslavakia & Italy, these people are no better, they commit crimes, make slums, they don't merge into our society at all. They claim that this is their country and they will take it back. I saw the riot in Westminster,ca some years ago when they put a sign up next to a stone & brick statue , which has been there for many years . It says KOREA TOWN & their make shift sign said, THIS WAS ONCE OUR LAND IT WILL BE AGAIN, the police made them take it down, with a minny riot. They have the most violent gangs across our country, Portland, Sacramento, Las vegas, Dallas, Chicago, New York, Boston & many more. Many people think that they only take minimum wage jobs, this is as far from the truth as you could imagine. Many are in the trades, Hispanic co's hire them, hell McDonalds in Nevada gave many illegals fake names & ssn's and gave them jobs, they got caught, HOW MANY HAVEN'T BEEN CAUGHT YET? Remember when they 1st came out in Chicago w/ the MEXICAN flags. AOL stated not long ago that they have approx 25% of all babys born in this country, they are spreading the AIDS virus faster in this country than any other race. In many citys the violence & crime is directly responsible to mexicans, they don't want to merge inro our society, their co's don't hire whites at all, I checked on this some years ago but U.S co's have to hire them. Most have no education & don't care to learn the English language. Send them back to their home, they send most of the money that they illegally earn here to help their own countrys economy, not ours. I am for deporting all of the illegals & if our gov't got off its dead ass & did their jobs like they are supposed to, we wouldn't have the problems that we are having now. Since when can someone come into our country illegally and tell us how we are going to handle immigration laws. If I get stopped by the police I will tell them I don;t have to obey the laws of the land, illegals don't.
I am sure that Shakira is in this country legally. What are the immagration laws in her country? Can we all just move there with no visa's, passports and jobs. Who is she to speak on this issue. AZ is just trying to expand on a federal law. There is no "violation of human and civil rights and goes against human dignity." The real violators are the human smugglers that rip these people off to smuggle them across the border and lock them up in a 1 bedroom house for months before they turn them loose.
If you are a legal citizen, (and by the way, there are a lot of Canadians and Asians here, you don't hear them whinning), you wont have problems. If you crossed at a legal border crossing and have a passport, no problem. If you are illegal and don't give any cause to get pulled over or arrested, no problem. Police aren't going to go around and randomly ask for documentation. I sure hope that the rest of the states looking at this type of legislation hurry up and pass it.
Why aren't we putting more pressure on Mexico, to do something to make it so their people don't want to leave? They have plenty of resourses to do so. Mexico has tougher immegration laws than we do, that is why so many South Americans end up here, Mexico isn't so nice to them.
Many of the illegals get arrested, sent back, leave the border and cross again within hours, knowing that the spot they crossed in most likely wont be checked until the next day. Not only do they pollute the desert with their garbage and waste, but they suffer and die out there also. A few hours in the desert heat just can't be tolerated.

We, in Arizona , know you're boycotting us -- but you really should come out here and see our Beautiful Sonoran Desert .
It's just gorgeous right now! We know you'd love it and maybe you can share what you saw with the rest of the country so they can love it too!
This is on an 'illegal super - highway' from Mexico to the USA ( Tucson ) used by human smugglers.
This area is located in a wash, approximately 1.5 miles long, just south of Tucson , Arizona . If a flood came, all this would be washed to the river and then onto the sea!
It is estimated over 5,000 discarded backpacks are in this wash. Countless water containers, food wrappers, clothing, feces, including thousands of soiled baby diapers. And as you can see in this picture, fresh footprints leading right into it.
As we kept walking down the wash, we thought for sure it was going to end, but around every corner was more and more trash! & SH_T
And of course the trail leading out of the wash in our city, heads directly NORTH to Tucson , then leads to your town tomorrow.
They've already come through here. Isn't Arizona just beautiful, America ?
Why would you boycott us???
Our desert has basically been turned into a landfill.
The trash left behind by people illegally crossing our border is another Environmental Disaster to hit the USA & Arizona.
If these actions had been done in one of our Northwest Forests or Seashore National Parks areas, there would be an uprising of the American people.....but this is the Arizona-Mexican border.
You won't see these pictures on CNN, ABC, NBC or the Arizona Republic Repugnant newspaper. Nor will they mention the disease that comes from the uncovered human waste left in our desert.
However, with respect to CNN, ABC & NBC, they do offer us "Special Reports" on cheating celebrity spouses....
This information needs to be seen by the rest of the country.
I lived in Phx & Mesa,Az for almost 4 years , had my car broken into 4 times ,4+ K in danages ALL BY MEXICANS, RUNNING OFF and once my beighbor who saw them run off. I have seen so many crimes committed by mexicans down there its sickening. I finally said the hell with it. the slum areas, the arrogance of them & the bull they try to tell everyone about breaking our laws.
I favor only comprehensive immigration reform on the federal level and which is both humane and without any racial profiling; it must be truly American, constitutional, and democratic. Anything less needs to quietly f___ off!
The feds haven't done a damn thing. They talk a bunch of retoric but ignore the issue. If this gets the fire lit under their pork barrel spending, self-gratifying behinds - good. If not, hopefully the 'criminals' entering the US will go elsewhere. I'm tired of budget cuts brought on by the medical care and education of the children of people who aren't paying a penny in taxes. My grandchildren are suffering.
If Shakira is so concerned about their well-being, maybe she should help support a community in Mexico rather than expect us to do it here in Arizona. Same goes for all the celebrities who talk a good game but don't put their money where their mouth is!!
