Governor Jan Brewer’s recent comment that most illegal immigrants in Arizona are being used to smuggle drugs has stirred up more controversy around SB1070. Do you agree with Brewer’s comments?

At first I thought that maybe this would be a worth while site.. Boy was I wrong.. Couldn't scrape up the compassion or intelligence of the average fly on here. Should have gotten the clue from the sites name..azlegislation, the State with the most indited and investigated lawmakers in History... So thanks for the hoot but not worth my time, or anyone Else's with half a brain..
Actually, I must agree here. I guess I shouldn't care what goes on in a state I am going to flee as soon as possible.
They have dirt in Mexico, yes? And they have water, yes? Grow the stuff in Mex and then export it to us, we will buy it if we want it, they will work, they will have a better country.
If their country is so backward so as not to be able to grow lettuce, which will grow on a sidewalk practically, then they should protest, wave their Mex flags around, and change their government and leave mine alone. I love Mexican people and want their country fixed.
It is beyond me how anyone could feel safer with their food supply dependent on a third world country. This is just blows my mind that people think so little of our national security that they would rather have our food grown outside of our country.
Why is our food mostly grown outside the US? Because people do not want to work their butts off for nothing. In the US the cost of a tractor is well over $150k, licenses for pesticides, they pay for government inspections, USDA, etc. we know that farming in the US is subsidized and still farmers barely break even, especially with power buyers like Walmart dictating prices.
It is easier to grow produce in South America than in Arizona where we mostly have sand. Lets not forget that our food supply became in jeopardy as soon as the governor severely slashed the budget of AZDA (Department of Agriculture). Now they have only a hand full of inspectors to investigate animal abuse claims, illegal pesticide use, illegal animal feeds, produce inspections at the store level, meat inspections at both farm and store levels.
Our food supply in this state is in serious jeopardy. 15 Inspectors for a state this size? New Mexico has over 400 inspectors, California has over 800 inspectors, Utah has well over 500 inspectors and we have 15? Budget cuts like these are embarrassing. Don't forget these workers recently received a 5% pay cut and a handful of furlough (unpaid) workdays. Many have not seen a raise in years. So if they decide to quit and move to greener pastures, we will be in deeper manure.
Chris how can someone grow up as naive as you? (If you are a grown up). The way you are structuring agriculture here in the states by definition means that third-worlders are processing your veggieburgers. duh You would probably like to own slaves just so your crops are grown on this side of the border. Read my post if you don't want to buy them you have that option. National security??? You think it's a good security protocol to have them tromping over the border at their leisure? duh
I grew up in a part of the country that has a much larger agriculture economy than here. You're insulting idiocy is not helping your case. I consider it to be a national security issue to have a safe food supply. I don't eat veggie burgers, but if I did I surely would want the produce that went into making them be controlled by the United States. I consider it a far larger security risk to have our food imported than to have some foreigners here working to pick our fields. The bottom line is that American's don't want those jobs. Not at any price. Certainly not at what the farmers can pay. And don't forget, you're the racist here. Don't project that slave crap on me.
I am a realist. You can throw poo all day long but it won't change the fact that illegals are changing the country and not in a good way. My wife's life was threatened by the Mex Mafia because her boss had her check ID's. Funny, most of the Mex's that were taking over the little bar she worked in had the same name and same Mex ID. You need to learn more about this problem and open your eyes. It's ignorant people like you that will only be affected when their sister is raped or mom or dad are killed by these thugs. Illegal.....get it? That goes for illegal mideasterners, English people, etc. If they cant afford the 695 to get a green card why do they pay 2500 to a coyote to smuggle them? Oh yeah that pesky background check!!!
If someone commits a murder, they broke the law and we want them in jail. If someone steals your car, they broke the law and they should go to jail. If someone broke into your home while you were at work and stole all of your valuables, they broke the law, and you want them to pay for their crime. If someone raped a loved one, they commited a crime, broke the law and they need to suffer all the legal repercussions. So why is it that when it comes down to dealing with illegals there are some out there who don't see the crime? or don't want those who have broken the law to be punished. Should we only enforce those laws that make your life easy? Feel free to speed at 60mph through a school zone, park in handicap spots, run red lights, have sex with minors, bounce check after check, lie in your income taxes. Lets make laws that fit your specific needs. Lets make laws that make you happy. Bottom line, if you dont like Arizona, stop complaining on a blog and do something about it; else get the *bleep* out of my state.
ps. Racial profiling or statistical analysis. To the untrained eye, it seems to be racial profiling, but if law enforcement were to use statistics it would yield the same results. Illegals do the same type of work, commit the same type of crimes, they live in the same neighborhoods. How many illegals live in Scottsdale, drive Bentleys and are surgeons? None? I didn't think so.
Gee Migzter, your a real scary piece of work, not to mention arrogant beyond belief.. Kind of Arpio esque... Well buddy or honey what ever you are..get ready for a bumpy ride..The days of you and yours are numbered. Though I will eventually leave this pit of a state, without a fond look back. I'm not going to be doing it because some emotionally and spiritually bankrupt racists invited me too. People like you just make me ever more aware, of how precious our freedoms are and how we need to fight the likes of you and your elitist cronies. Something tells me when your at AJ's par-oozing the produce that you didn't pick, you are somehow pleased that your not paying $5 an apple..But hey if you wish it, keep on your merry, though uninformed, ignorant way, though may want to run by Gucci and pick up some harvesting togs. Then with any luck a illegal in a Bentley will back over you in the parking lot.. That would be just one more down for our side.
See above which was intended to be a reply to your idiotic post. You would want to own slaves if it was legal I bet. You want them here working so you can have a cheap apple? Fix their country plant some lettuce heck I can even grow that. I love the Mexican people and I want their country fixed.
Respecting the law has nothing to do with being racist. My produce as well as my coffee is imported directly from South America, no illegaly picked produce in my home. Arrogant, maybe. Proud, deffinitely!
As for precious freedoms, I gave 7 years of mine, 5 spent in the desert, carrying 90 pounds of gear while liberalist who are clueless on the price spew ignorant and uninformed statements.
Wishing that I get runned over further more reveals your small mindedness, then again you seem to have spent too much time watching CNN, I mean you mention Elitist; do you even know what that means? And I am not talking about CNN or Fox's deffinition of the word.
Simply put, we have a border issue, we have a crime issue, we have an illegal issue. I myself do not hire illegals, I do not support businesses that hire illegals.
On the other hand I respect the laws of the state, no matter how "retarded" they may seem.
So once again, all your paragraph did was incite some sort of violence against me because of my opinion. My freedom of speech which I paid for with military service. Go serve, then lets see what your opinion on the matter is.
Btw. On september 11, 2001 - 14 men from Yemen were captured at Arizona's border. Where they terrorists? Who knows, but they got deported less than 30 days later.
So your so special cause you got yours in one useless war, Should have been killing Saudis instead. I paid my dues in the previous useless war Nam...Not real skeered by all the bravado..So guess you didn't get all that anger out in 7 yrs. and decided to point it at the quiet, hard working, under paid, Hispanic population. Might have to get a little therapy there bud.. Be sure and take your lovely fruit plate and your Moca java double roast with you, it's good to have a hobby. I'm sure it will fit just dandy in the trunk of the Bentley. No elitist there.. Yea right! I do watch CNN and Fox as well as the freaks that think hate is a good character building exercise. It's good to see all sides and again, thank you for clarifying for me and many others, what I don't want to become, an ugly American. Oh and keep swatting at those pesky terrorists..
A Nam vet, my respects for you. But you do have me pegged wrong. I am a stickler for the rules of law and order. Without them this might as well be the wild west. Yes, SB1070 might seem racist, but here is the shocker: Most Hispanics / Latinos that are here legally do support the law. Me being one of them.
I dont dissagree that we are some of the hardest working people, I know my work ethic, I myself have never missed a day of work in my life. I still have shrapnel in my leg and there are days where its beyond unberable. But the truth of the mater is that illegal is illegal. Whether we go after those who hire them(those who exploit them), or those who bring them over. It is a rough road ahead. If the Federal Government had done its job in securing its borders, especially after 9-11, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
As misguided Brewer was in signing this bill into law, she did what she had to do to get attention to this problem. It is a real problem and shuffling these poor people will not solve the problems.
Allow them to sign up for a workers program with amnesty, but make them pay taxes. What we need here are solutions, and not finger pointing. And yes, although I am hispanic (born abroad) I am now an American, and having served this country I do believe in Love it or leave it.
ps. I myself brought my family over to the US legally and yes there are a few hoops to jump through in this immigration process of ours. But it cost me under $3,000 and under year and a half to process.
Latinos do not support the law. This is yet another bogus claim that the (liars) supporters of 11070 claim. They keep making crap up because people are too stupid or too lazy to check the facts.

http://latinodecisions.wordpress.com/2010/05/06/latino-voters-strongly-r...
What I don't get is why everyone thinks you either deport them or give them citizenship. How about a documented worker program that kept track of who was in the country, made them pay taxes, and allowed us to put our limited resources to work protecting the country from actual threats?
Chris,
Although I do agree with your bottom paragraph, I have to disagree with your statement that Latino's do not support SB1070.
The first survey spoke with 552 voters statewide. There are over 5 million people in this state, a more accurate poll would have been at least a 3000 person sampling with a maximum standard deviation of 2.5 % +/- I have a background in statistics, so I know how flawed these 2 polls you posted are.
The second link you posted starts with:
"A new survey released today by Latino Decisions"
This means they did their own survey...oh that's not fixed. As a latino, I support the law and all of my friends and co-workers that are latino do as well. I wasn't polled, and I just called a few of them. None of them were polled. Maybe this poll took place outside of a home depot in Mesa or something.
Don't post statistics that were not conduced by a neutral party. I can ask Nazi party members if blacks are useless and I guarantee you the vast majority will agree. (Not that I believe that blacks are useless)
The media plays with everyone, reporting the lies of government officials and never redact them or verify them. If Latino's were against this law there would be thousands marching downtown, the fact is that there are 9 people sitting there under the trees with signs and half of them are white. Drive by the Capitol building and see for yourself. I see them every day on my way to work.
As for creating work programs and making them pay taxes im all for that. Latinos who went through the process legally know how hard it was to get over here and just letting those who took the easy route get away with it does not sit well with us.
You can't back up your statement with any facts. I posted two polls that disagree with your assertions. The polls were conducted using well established polling methodologies that were published with the polls. One of them was done in conjunction with Political Science professors at all three of the state's major universities. The numbers are well beyond the margin of error for both polls. Just because you and your friends were not polled doesn't mean that the poll wasn't valid. It holds a lot more water than your assertions. You obviously don't understand polling or statistics.
I backed my statement with facts, I myself a LATINO, support the bill, my friends who are also LATINOS support the bill; l how much more factual can you get.
As for polling methodologies, a deviation of over 4% is not accurate, ever! Especially when you are covering, race, age, sex, political views.
And "One of them was done in conjunction with Political Science professors at all three of the state's major universities." Who? And I repeat who do you think gives money to the Universities? If you think that our Universities are independent from all governmental agenda you are living in La-La land.
You'll have to forgive me for not believing someone defending a liar.
It is one thing to go on and on about the legalities of SB1070, Brewer and Arpio, .. BUT you keep forgetting one thing.. These people are talking about "SWEEPS"!!! You are suggesting that in the USA, it's OK to target and detain people that fit into a racial profile...En mass? Sorry folks, law or no law that's not my America and shouldn't be yours.. Yours was defeated when the Germans surrendered... NOTE: You needed to have your papers on you then too. All I can say to you scary folks is "Those that refuse to learn from history are doomed to relive it"
...Just had great trip to England and Ireland; boy, I made sure I had my papers with me at all times!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why does the left insist upon lying about Brewer's comments? Brewer never said anything such as "all illegal aliens are drug smugglers." What she said is that most illegal aliens are involved with drug smugglers. This is verifiably TRUE.
The fact is that while "coyotes" were once independent entrepreneurs, some years ago the drug cartels discovered that there was a lot of money to be made smuggling illegals.
Today, virtually all smuggled illegal aliens pay drug cartels to do the smuggling. This means that illegal aliens are almost all paying money to the drug smugglers.
If the left ever stops lying and twisting quotes to make their points, they may gain the credibility they now lack.
No one is twisting what she said, but that's a nice try at a straw man. It is verifiable false that most illegals are involved with the drug trade. It was not true when Brewer said it, and it isn't true when you repeat it.
Interim Gov Brewer is simplaying politics similar to Pre GW Bush with the 911 era; she is instilling fear on AZ Citizens implementing the drug cartels are behinf each & everyone of the immigrants entering into AZ; what a complete nincompoop; I guess she thinks she can bamboozle all the AZ citizens thinking AZ citizens are ignorant? She has not mention in her campaign what she plans to do to boost the economy? Makes one want to go HUM?
I give Jan Brewer a thumbs up! It's about time someone had the balls to take this action! Do you know that over 60% of Arizonans APROVE of this law, and that 20 other states are looking into doing something like this law?
All we ask is that illegals come here LEGALLY! We can't go to other countries and expect everything on a silver platter like they are getting here.
17 of the 22 on Arizonas most wanted list are ILLEGALS! And you can thank Janet Napolotano for our economy! SHe left it in shreds and headed off to DC.
I wrote Pres. Obama a Thank you note for getting her out of here!

I have read most of the comments on here. I got to say from a person who's great grandmother was Yaqui Indian and great grandfather who was Mexican, This state has always been prejudice. It's funny how back then Mexican's just walked across the border with no problem. The American people had no problem then. ONLY when we are broke! During the Great Depression they deported all Latino's. It didn't matter if you were an American Citizen or not. How sad is that! If you had brown skin you were dropped off in a Country you've never been to.
Then I hear people say The 14th amendment was made for children of slaves. That's as ignorant as you can get! Your just telling everyone our Government picked and chose what races were able to be Americans. How prejudice does that sound?
My family has been in Arizona for generations, and the land was stolen from my Native ancestors. I know and always have known this is a prejudice state. Everyone is so silent about it because they are cowards! Now that the stupid Governor has signed this bill, people are getting worse.
From the time I was 13yrs old to now, I've KNOWN 3 people who've gotten murdered by Phoenix PD. 2 lawsuits by the families and won. What a coincidence that 2 were Latino and 1 black. Yeah they don't put those stories in the headlines do they. It's just like the Elizabeth Smart case, what lengths the Country went to find this girl. Thank God they did, but come on when do you here of them doing that for other races? All they get is a Missing sign in Walmart.
Jan Brewer is all about votes and money! Lies and B.S.! She just goes with whatever the polls favor. Why doesn't she think for herself and stop being Arpaio's puppet?
What a load of b.s.
1. "Latino" American citizens were never deported during the Depression. Never happened.
2. The 14th Amendment WAS written for the children of slaves. You may not LIKE that, but it's a historical fact.
3. You don't know ANYONE who was "murdered" by the Phoenix PD. If you still claim to, then cite the court that convicted the officers of murder. "Murder" is a legal term. The justifiable killing of scumbag criminals by the police is not "murder."
4. No one "stole" the land from your "native ancestors." Are you Hispanic or are you an Indian? Make up your mind. "Hispanic" means "descended from the Spanish." The Spanish are not "natives."
The fact is that the majority of Hispanic-AMERICANS loathe illegal aliens. We SUPPORT 1070. It's only the radical left and the wacky "Atzlan" activists who want illegal immigration to continue. We legal Americans of Hispanic origin want it stopped.
First of all you say a bunch of b.s.
1. Look up American history..... here's one link and there's many out there of the same thing. People like you are in denial!
http://xicanopwr.com/2006/03/americas-cruel-history-of-mass-deportation-...
2. My great grandmother was Yaqui Indian born in Douglas AZ and great grandfather was Hispanic. So yes there is a way to be both.. Are you ignorant or what?
3. Just because the police think someone broke the law doesn't give them the right to take care of it themselves. If a kid points a knife at the police there's no reason to shoot him 89 times.
4. This land was stolen from Native Americans everyone knows that. White people made the laws of this Country and Natives had no part in it. So personally and I know a lot of people agree, your illegal to. I don't see the Government helping the Indians get off the Reservations for a better life!
5. The 14th amendment doesn't specifically say it's for Slave babies. Just because you think it is and even if it was it doesn't say it. That's what matters!
1. Yes they were. It was called the Mexican Repatriation. Look it up. It happened just as the poster said.
2. This is an irrelevant point. The author of the amendment stated that he was just codifying what was already considered the law of the land. At the time, there was no such thing as illegal immigration. Who it was written for has nothing to do with what it says and how it is applied.
3. Whatever.
4. He is both. Can't you read?
See above. The majority of Hispanics do not support 1070. Get the facts straight.
I think Jan Brewer is doing the best job possible under the circumstances.
for those of us pulling the race card I have a challenge for you. Try replacing racism with commonism, as in they share a common circumstance or heritage. Loses its punch when you use a different word doesn't it? I've had a gut full of emotional knee jerk reactions from people screaming racist when it has nothing to do with race. It has to do with law and order.
It is pathetic to see those drunk on the Obamination's kool-aid. Seems you've lost the ability to think critically. When all you can do is the emotional knee-jerk that's all you will see. Pathetic.
Why not try to see what we see? Got to BorderInvasionPics.com and view what happens every day here.
