AAA supports the use of photo enforcement technology when used to improve the safety of motorists.  AAA Arizona does not support the use of photo enforcement in which excess revenues are used to fund programs unrelated to law enforcement or traffic safety.

AAA Arizona supports photo enforcement programs that meet three critical criteria:

First, the programs must demonstrate an improvement to traffic safety.

Second, the deployment of technology does not replace the human element of law enforcement.

Finally, excess revenue, beyond what was necessary to administer the program, would be used for traffic safety and law enforcement related programs and not be used to support the black hole of the General Fund.

Recognizing the importance of traffic safety, AAA Arizona encourages all motorists to obey traffic laws, be mindful of road conditions and maintain an appropriate and safe speed.
